The Learning Resource Centre of SreeSaraswathi Thyagaraja College iscommitted to fostering the sustaineddevelopment of its resources byextending a professional support serviceand to create a culture of learning andreading among the students and staff byproviding the required quality learningresources.

STC has two libraries, one in the MainBuilding and another in the VSV AdvancedLearning Centre building with 5450 sq. ft. It hashuge volumes of books over 43,372, articles,journals and magazines, multilingual dailies,reference books, back volumes of books and e-resources to support teaching, research andextension programmes of the college and providesefficient service to all the members of the institution.

FEATURES
• Computerized and Bar-coded Library is automated using an Integrated LibraryManagement system (ILMS) with a library software database namely Modern Lib
• Variety of collections of Books, Journals and Magazines
• Access the entire Library Database through OPAC - OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)
• Library books are arranged in the form of Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC)
• In Library premises, a Wi-Fi facility is available with an internet bandwidth of 100 and50 Mbps
• Digital Library consists of 25 desktops with internet bandwidth of 100 and 50 Mbps for students and faculty members
• E-resources like DELNET, INFLIBNET (N-LIST), and NDLI are available in our Digital library- The DELNET provides 38,184 E-journals, plenty of E-books on various subjects & statistical database for researchers, and 11,24,250 articles which help the members to find their references
•  Autonomous end-semester question banks and syllabi are available in the OPAC system
•  Reprography facility available
• New Arrivals are displayed on racks/through online catalogs
• Notice board displays all the information about the utilization of library resources and any relevant library information
• Students and Faculty members visit to the library using a barcode entry card
• Scribes’ books are available
• The library is under CCTV Surveillance System
• The reading room is well furnished and provides a conducive environment for study
LIBRARY INITIATIVES
• In our library, regularly “Thinam oru Kural” and currency values are displayed on the white board.
• To encourage and motivate learning culture, students who have secured 80% and above(CGPA of 8.0) in the end semester examinations are entitled to borrow one additional book along with their regular entitlement for every semester.
• Suggestion box is available and every Friday, it is opened and taken into action for any suggestion offered by the students and faculty members.
