Centre for Research and Development (CRD)
The Centre for Research and Development (CRD) in Sree Saraswathi Thyagaraja College (STC) is a unique Centre specially created to foster research and development activities. This Centre is specially designed to promote research activities of the faculties and students of the College as well as to initiate socio economic researches and development projects in order to open up the vistas of academic institutions to contribute its knowledge for the benefit of the society.

Research Advisory Board
It is very essential to have associations with experts from industry, research, academia and social development sectors to strengthen the research and development activities of CRD. A body of expert resource persons from different walks of life was constituted for the empowerment of CRD. This body is known as the Research Advisory Board of CRD and successfully conducted its first meeting on 27th August 2011 at 11:00 AM at Sree Saraswathi Thyagaraja College campus in Pollachi. Besides this an internal research strengthening cell is also functioning in STC constituting all the Heads of the Departments and Directors. 

The Chief Patrons
The Research Advisory Board of CRD is constituted by the visionary leaders of STC. They are the leading lights, guiding professors and benevolent teachers paved the cornerstones for Research and Development activities in STC. Four Board Members and the Principal of STC are the chief patrons of CRD and RAB is functioning under the strong leadership of these intellectuals.

CRD renders assistance and guidance to students to develop innovative ideas to develop it as projects. Now Computer Science students are developing an innovative technology in renewable energy area.

Inter Departmental Programmes
CRD is aiming to develop inter departmental and intra departmental relations for research and development activities to lead STC into new academic and research heights. CRD contributed many projects for IEDC unit in STC. CRD plays a vital role in supporting and assisting faculties from all departments to initiate research projects and research oriented activities. It stresses on the significance of application of academic knowledge for the development and welfare of the society.

She is a Social Scientist with 13 years experience in various national and international Organisations. As an expert in Decentralisation and Panchayati Raj system she associated with the Mission on Decentralisation Support Programmes (DSP Mission) by the Modernising Government Programme (MGP) aided by Asian Development Bank (ADB) resulted in the submission of four major Reports before Government of Kerala to strengthen the decentralisation process in Kerala. She has worked with various government bodies, departments and agencies on different projects. She is a member of many international organisations and an expert in socio economic research on Local Economic Development, Poverty Alleviation, Gender, Water and Sanitation, Urbanisation, Tourism, Policy Advocacy, Indigenous People, Natural Resource Management and HIV/AIDS.
