DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

“A sound mind in a sound body” is the basic philosophy of physical education in general. Both the brain and the brawn of the students should be equally trained and developed lot getting the best out of them in their academic and sports and games activities and for personality development of the individual. The department of physical education at STC has been encouraging Sportsmen by giving them year round traning, coaching, competitive experiences and exposures under the direct supervision of efficient and experienced coaches and Sports Administrators.

Our professional preparation through training naturally brings excellence on the individual sports person as well as on the teams. In pursuit of excellence, our boys regularly play against top teams in Tamilnadu and other states,which provide them plenty of job opportunities as Sports Administrators of various departments of the centre and state governments watch and assess them. 

STC Sportsmen are dependable, hardworking, highly disciplined without sacrificing their studies. Organizations like ICF, Railways, Banks,Central Exercise, Customs and others prefer STC boys as they have been worthy, disciplined, adaptable, able and enduring to play excellent for long years in their respective teams.

INFRASTRUCTURE FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION

There is a separate sports block constructed at a cost Rs.65lakhs exclusively for sports and games purpose with all modern amenities.

The sports Block have the following Facilities:

o    Indoor games
o    Fitness center
o    Separate green rooms for boys and girls with toilet and bath facilities
o    Store room for sports equipments
o    Office room for physical education
o    First aid facilities in a separate room.

The Sports Complex have got the following Facilities for sports and games

o    Basketball
o    Volleyball
o    Ball badminton
o    Kabaddi
o    Kho-Kho
o    200m Athletic track
o    Playfield for football

STC Sports Scholarship

    STC offers free board and lodging for high achievers and talented Sportsmen. For the college Volleyball team completely every thing is waived including college fee, boarding and lodging charges. We proudly announce that about a sum Rs 10 lakh is being spent on scholarship every year.

           The College has constituted an Advisory Committee for Sports & Games with various experts for getting guidance and counseling in matters of Physical Education and for better performance.
