GENESIS OF THE INSTITUTION

STC established in 1997, the Golden Jubilee year of our independence, by V.S.V.Vidhyaa Mandir, a charitable trust, has  completed its, 12th year of its  fruitful service in the field of education. The trust recognizing the need for higher education among the rural youth,  set-up the college with a determined vision to provide collegiate education to the rural students hailing from various villages in and around Pollachi.  The College obtained affiliation from Bharathiar University,Coimbatore and commenced its educational journey on the auspicious day of Vijayadasami in the year 1997 and has crossed several milestones till date. The first batch of students were graduated from the institution in June 2000. Began with a strength of 37 students in 1997 the college has grown tremendously within a period of 12 years and the students’ strength has increased to 2650 in 2009-10.

The college offers 8 UG programmes and 7 PG programmes in various disciplines. In order to improve the communication skill of the students, the college has made all arrangements to offer a certificate course in Communicative English approved by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore from 2003-04 onwards. A well furnished language laboratory is also available for this purpose. The institution has got a special course for Communicative English known as Olivia.

The college is well equipped with the state-of-art infrastructural facilities like  broad and well built airy and feel fresh classroom with modern amenities, computer labs, library, special Journal section, physical fitness Centre with latest equipments etc. A team of well qualified and dedicated faculty members are there to offer quality education to students and for their value oriented transformation.

To accommodate women students hailing from far-off places, a modern, well furnished hostel has been constructed at a cost of Rs.25 lakhs by the Management in November 2001 and it is functioning very well.

To accommodate male students from various places a modern men’s hostel has been  started and it is functioning from the academic year 2006 - 07.

The college has added many feathers to its cap 1) it is  the first institution in the Pollachi Educational District to obtain the coveted ISO 9001:2000 Certification from the International Standards Organisation, 2) the college has  got accreditation by NAAC with B++.  and 3) a recognition for the quality of education and academic achievement STC has been granted Autonomous status by the UGC in 2008-2009. The College has been adjudged as the Second Best College among the affiliated colleges of Bharathiar University.
